Here at Calibre, we are delighted to introduce NORQAIN’s new sub-collection in its Adventure family: NEVEREST. With discovery at the heart of the brand, these are the first timepieces in the collection to be fitted with the high-performance Manufacture Calibre NN20/1, which has been developed in partnership with Kenissi. A joint venture between Tudor and Chanel, Kenissi are a Gevena-based watch movement manufacturer.

Aligning to NORQAIN’S positive attitude and underscoring the collection’s connection to Mount Everest, the name “NEVEREST” was born. Both the collection and its name capture the independent watchmaker’s adventurous spirit and its unending motivation to push the boundaries of the industry.

GLACIER

Inspired by the appearance of the world’s highest peak, the Adventure NEVEREST 40mm Glacier has a captivating silvery look – from the steel brushed and satined case, to the grey bezel and dial. Red accents stand out against the cracked white dial. The cracks resemble the jagged crevasses of Khumbu Icefall, the most dangerous stage of the climb to Everest’s summit. At its heart is the powerful NORQAIN Manufacture Calibre NN20/1. This piece is water resistant to 200 metres, ready to climb the world’s highest peak or plunge deep beneath the ocean’s surface.

The striking NEVEREST timepieces have been produced to the highest quality to appeal to explorers who appreciate the excitement and beauty of nature. Not only that, but those who want to make a positive impact with their purchase too as the collection is in support of the Butterfly Help Project in Nepal.

10% of the earnings of NEVEREST sales will be donated to the Butterfly Help Project, the organisation has been created by Norbu Sherpa and Andrea Sherpa-Zimmermann. With the mission to help the families of Sherpas who have lost their loved ones in the Himalayan mountains, the Butterfly Help Project also supports children through education. NORQAIN are confident that the launch of NEVEREST is the start of a new chapter in their on-going journey; a story that now includes a partnership that helps others overcome challenges and enjoy the view from the top.

“I am deeply touched by the stories of Sherpa families in Nepal, and I speak for the entire NORQAIN team when I say how honoured we are to be involved with the Butterfly Help Project and their admirable cause. With this partnership, we can positively impact the lives of children in need and give them a brighter future by sending them to school. This is the most important thing we have done as a brand” NORQAIN CEO Ben Küffer

Having climbed Mount Everest seven times, Andrea and Norbu, pictured below, have adventure in their blood. The courageous duo founded Wild Yak Expeditions in 2014 to make the dreams of mountaineers and travellers come true. With a mission to give back to Nepal’s people who may not have the same chances in life, the Butterfly Help Project blossomed into its existence.

Sharing this belief and approach to life, NORQAIN has committed to sending 50 children to school in 2021 through the NEVEREST collection. With each timepiece, the financial aid will cover school fees and provide classroom material, books, uniforms, and athletic equipment.

“We are so grateful for NORQAIN’s contribution to the Butterfly Help Project. Not only are they helping to change the lives of children in Nepal, but they are also bringing greater awareness to the adventure of climbing Mt. Everest and how it impacts Sherpas and their families” Norbu Sherpa and Andrea Sherpa-Zimmermann
